Sometimes referred to as the “little Versailles,” the Peninsula Paris hotel is steeped in history. Following the wartime occupation of Paris, this legendary building was converted into UNESCO headquarters. Afterwards, for a time, it became a conference centre for the French military of Foreign Affairs. In previous iterations as a hotel, the century-old residence housed iconic guests including George Gershwin, Igor Stravinsky, Pablo Picasso and Marcel Proust.
A 2014 renovation by Affine Design and CSL Hong Kong infused the locale’s century of glamour and French history with cutting-edge modernity. Hand-tufted Tai Ping textiles in Axminster bathe the floors throughout the hotel; their restraint allows the Haussmann architecture to shine. Now an emblem of Parisian luxury hospitality, the Peninsula has earned the distinction of “Palace Hotel,” placing it among the finest 5-star establishments.
